Happy World Chocolate Day!!
Today is our favorite holiday. World Chocolate Day! Wishing you a wonderful day, filled with a very special chocolate treat, of course. Find some ideas for how to celebrate, wherever you are in the world, below.
This morning, we enjoyed ceremonial cacao (read more about how to start drinking ceremonial cacao, what it is, etc, by clicking the link) in our matcha latte. Matcha and cacao are a beautiful combo, or at least we think so.
Speaking of matcha, yesterday, we journeyed to Rice Market on 14th Street to get some new matcha goodies, including a bamboo matcha scoop (Chashaku), a sifter and some ceremonial matcha powder, too, from a new brand that we’ve never seen in the District: Maeda-En. It is delicious.
Rice Market is an Asian restaurant with a large Asian market in the basement, where you can buy amazing Asian treats and house items like cookbooks and cookware. HIGHLY recommend. It’s gorgeous and there are so many incredible offerings and gifts.

It’s World Chocolate Day and we love the aesthetic of this stunning photograph. A luxurious country cabin scene. Something that we hope to replicate this weekend! Why not make some classic chocolate chip cookies at home today to celebrate World Chocolate Day? Find a recipe on your favorite chocolate morsels, or a new recipe online or in a family recipe book.
You can of course always order some chocolate for your stash from Bar & Cocoa, too. Sometimes, we order chocolate bars simply for the unique artwork on the packaging!

If you’re in DC, today, why not get mint chip gelato at Dolcezza?! From their newsletter: “We take chocolate-mint grown by FIRESIDE FARM and infuse it in our milk & cream base resulting in the smoothest, earthiest, longest-lasting mint gelato you’ve ever tasted.” YUM. Sounds refreshing in this heat. They also have chocolate gelato, of course. Any ice cream with chocolate will do 🙂 You could also get your favorite ice cream cone from the supermarket!
Looking to celebrate in a coffee shop? Walk to your local favorite and order a mocha!
