Good morning, DC, and happiest of Friday’s. It’s raining here in the District, but we got our mini fridge this week (we’re still waiting on the big one to be replaced if you’ve been following this saga the past few ESPUMA’s).
The mini fridge is a tiny powerhouse and honestly, it’s made us so thankful for every working appliance that we have. Being able to keep fresh milk for our morning coffee, fresh vegetables and more, inside of a fridge, is honestly such a gift. Reminds us of the importance of gratitude; “you don’t know what you got until it’s gone.” Wishing you a great day and wonderful weekend. There’s a lot of exciting coffee and chocolate news in the area this week, and we published a fresh article on the art and lifestyle of slow living in a city like Washington, DC.
If you read Espuma #44, here, you’ll know that we’ve been waiting 5 weeks for a new refrigerator! Today is the sweet day — the day that the new fridge will come. Please cross your fingers that everything installs smoothly. We cannot WAIT to have a new fridge; it’s been such a process only using the freezer for all of our meals and refilling an ice box every 12 hours to try and keep vegetables or meat… not to mention milk for coffee… for 5 long weeks. We’re so thankful for our other appliances and comforts that still run, including air conditioning during this week’s scorching temps.
This past week was quite stressful — our fridge has been broken for almost 3 weeks (and we’re still waiting on the repair man), work doesn’t seem to slow down (but we’re so thankful to have a job), we’re planning an in-person/virtual bridal shower, and the general “overwhelm” just doesn’t seem to subside. We always enjoy our daily time cupsoul’s, those special quiet moments with coffee and chocolate that inject some calm. Since I don’t have access to cold milk this week, my sister wired me $5 to get a coffee. It was a small and beautiful gesture. If you can, I want to encourage you to buy someone a coffee this weekend; you will certainly change their day! No COVID pun intended, “spread” some kindness 🙂 Side effects probably include smiling. Please do pick someone from your family or friends to buy a coffee for, but if you like our writing, we’d be honored and grateful if you bought us a coffee, too!
