Baked and Wired: Adventures in Georgetown
THIS POST WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED in 2014 AND WAS UPDATED IN JULY 2020. It’s been named one of the top ten bakeries in the United States by Fodor’s Travel, and it’s easily one of the most talked about coffee shop locations in the area. Do not miss Baked & Wired, just next to Georgetown’s historic C&O canal. Baked & Wired came backed with a lot of hype and praise; people have been telling us to go there for years. Somehow, we never got around to it. There’s something about…

Our New Favorite Inspiring DC Coffee Spot: Seylou Bakery & Mill
It opened in late 2017 and has received glowing reviews ever since, but seldom are journalists scooping Seylou as a coffee shop. And well, they should be. River-Sea Chocolates: Local Vendor Provides Delicious Cocoa Escape
Would Time Cupsoul buy River-Sea Chocolates again? Absolutely. It could be meeting the local makers at The Chocolate House (support local vendors!), the packaging with origin photos that connect the patrons to the global story/producers, the sustainability message, or just the fact that the chocolate is decadent. It's probably a combination of all of the above. There's a special rawness to this small bean-to-bar brand that you simply don't want to miss.

Patric Chocolate: Browned-Butter Bar Happiness
It’s St. Patrick’s Day today, and the name of this brand is Patric Chocolate, not “St. Patric(k)’s” Chocolate, but let’s go with it; this is some magical Leprechaun-worthy cocoa. Patric Chocolate is special. It’s “American Handcrafted Chocolate,” est. 2006 by Alan “Patric” McClure out of Columbia Missouri, USA. According to the interior of the chocolate bar packaging, Alan spent a year in France in his mid-twenties learning about chocolate. As of 2017, the brand has been rewarded Good Food Awards every year, making it the most decorated craft food…
